Life Span Center for Legal Services and Advocacy seeks a volunteer law clerk to assist our staff of attorneys in providing legal services to survivors of domestic violence. Life Span assists clients with civil orders of protection, divorce and sexual assault civil no-contact orders, Students with a 711 license will represent clients in court, under the supervision of an attorney.

Funding information

  • We will accept applications from law students/grads who have funding.
  • We will accept applications from law students seeking academic credit or participating in an externship through their law school.
  • We will accept applications from law students/grads who do not have funding.

About the Organization

LIFE SPAN provides comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence and their children, including individual and group counseling for women, individual and group counseling for children, legal representation, criminal court advocacy, and a 24-hour crisis line. We do not provide shelter. Life Span refers battered women and their children to shelters and other secure places that are available on a short term basis. The core of Life Span's legal services includes legal advice, information, and representation in all family law matters, such as divorce, custody, child support, visitation, removal, and orders of protection. Life Span also represents victims of sexual assault in Civil No Contact matters. The agency's services are free.
