When a state agency has a job opening for an intern or student worker, they must notify the following agencies:
- Department of Human Services
- Department of Juvenile Justice
- Department of Children and Family Services
Following notification of the job opening, the three agencies listed above must take steps to notify qualified youth of the job opportunity. This notification should include information on how to apply for the job.
What type of youth qualify for the required notification?
In order to qualify for special notification, the youth must be 21 years of age or younger and qualified for the job. Additionally, the youth must satisfy one of the three following requirements:
- They are or have been in foster care;
- They are homeless; or
- They were previously incarcerated in a juvenile detention center and have been released.
